Accuracy and source hierarchy
We prefer legislation, gazettes, official procurement portals, tender documents, award notices, council minutes, budgets, annual reports, regulatory filings and court records. Company statements and credible reporting are used when they add necessary context.
Where a primary document is available, we link it directly. We do not substitute an aggregator for an original notice when the original is accessible.
Amounts and status
We distinguish budgeted, allocated, approved, committed, contracted, spent and completed. A missing value is shown as not disclosed; estimates are attributed to their source.
Tender status changes only when source evidence supports the change. We do not infer an award from a closing date or imply a project is complete from a target date.
News, analysis and commercial material
News reports what an institution or document says. Analysis explains implications and identifies its basis. Opinion will be labelled. Sponsored material, if introduced, will be clearly separated from editorial coverage.
Right of reply and conflicts
People and institutions materially criticised in a story should be given a reasonable opportunity to respond. Material conflicts and commercial relationships will be disclosed. Anonymous sources require an editorial reason and corroboration.
Corrections
Material factual errors are corrected visibly with the correction date, original error, corrected information and source. We do not silently rewrite material facts.
